Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 19/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system will move eastwards across the Tasman Sea today. A low pressure trough and associated cold front will develop near the western border this morning and move across western districts during the day, reaching northeast and eastern districts Thursday morning. Another front will then cross southern coasts early Saturday.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers developing over western districts, extending over the southern agricultural area south of about Adelaide in the late afternoon or evening. Showers increasing to areas of rain over Kangaroo Island and the South East during the evening. Possible thunderstorms developing over the West Coast, Eyre Peninsula, Yorke Peninsula and Kangaroo Island. Hot, grading to very hot in the far northwest. Freshening northerly winds, with possible raised dust over the West Coast district, ahead of a milder southwesterly wind change developing in the far west late morning, extending east to reach Coober Pedy to Cape Borda late evening.Thursday 21 MarchAreas of rain about eastern districts during the early morning, easing to isolated showers over the agricultural area then contracting to the South East during the day. Possible early morning thunder about Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East coast. Possible showers south of about Coober Pedy to Leigh Creek. Mild to warm, grading to hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds extending throughout. Winds strong and gusty about southern coasts and the Lower South East.Friday 22 MarchIsolated showers north of Woomera to Broken Hill. Isolated showers developing about southern coasts during the day. Cool to mild in the south with moderate to fresh northwest to southwest winds. Warm to hot in the north with moderate south to southeasterly winds.Saturday 23 MarchIsolated showers about the agricultural area, scattered about Kangaroo Island and the Lower South East during the early morning, easing and contracting to southern coasts during the day. Isolated showers north of Coober Pedy to Leigh Creek. Moderate to fresh northwest to southwest winds, tending southeasterly over northern parts of the State. Warm to hot in the north, cool to mild in the south. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday until midnight Saturday are expected to be generally 2 to 5 mm, increasing to 5 to 10 mm over the southern agricultural area south of Adelaide.Sunday until TuesdayIsolated showers near the northern border, clearing by Monday. Isolated showers over the southern agricultural area, contracting to southern coasts by Monday morning and clearing in the afternoon. Moderate to fresh northwest to southwest winds, becoming moderate southwest to southeasterly on Sunday. Mild to warm, grading to hot in the north and west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Wednesday.Product IDS10033
