MELBOURNE - Mar 18/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system centred south of Kangaroo Island is moving eastwards and will be positioned over the Tasman Sea on Tuesday and Wednesday. A low pressure trough will develop near the western border on Wednesday morning, then move across western districts during the day, reaching the eastern border early on Thursday. Another front is expected to move across southern parts of the State early on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of MondayFine and mostly clear. Cool to mild in the south, warm in the north. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds and afternoon sea breezes.Tuesday 19 MarchFine and mostly sunny. Warm in the south grading to hot in the north and west. Light to moderate northeast to northerly winds, freshening in the west. Moderate afternoon sea breezes about the coasts.Wednesday 20 MarchIsolated showers developing over western districts, extending over southern coasts and the South East district in the late afternoon or evening. Possible thunderstorms developing over the West Coast and Lower Eyre Peninsula. Hot, grading to very hot in the far northwest, with freshening northerly winds, ahead of a milder southwest to southerly wind change in the west, extending eastwards to reach a line near Kingscote to Coober Pedy late evening.Thursday 21 MarchIsolated showers over the agricultural areas, contracting to the Southeast districts during the day. Possible early morning thunder about southern coasts. Possible showers south of about Broken Hill to Coober Pedy. Possible afternoon thunderstorms in the far northwest. Mild to warm, grading to hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds extending throughout.Friday 22 MarchIsolated showers north of Woomera to Broken Hill with possible thunder near the northern border areas. Isolated showers developing about southern coasts during the day. Moderate northwest to southwest winds in the south, freshening about the coasts. Winds moderate south southeasterly in the north. Hot in the north, otherwise cool to mild. Cumulative rainfall totals from Monday until midnight Friday are expected to be less than 2 mm generally across the pastoral and agricultural areas, increasing to 1 to 5 mm over the southern agricultural area. Local falls of 5 to 10 mm are possible over the Lower South East.Saturday until MondayIsolated showers north of Woomera to Broken Hill, contracting to the northern border area on Sunday and Monday. Isolated showers over the southern agricultural area on Saturday, then contracting to southern coasts on Sunday and Monday. Moderate to fresh northwest to southwest winds, becoming moderate southwest to southeasterly on on Sunday.
