MELBOURNE - Mar 17/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cool southerly airstream over Victoria will moderate today as a high pressure system over waters south of the Bight drifts towards Bass Strait. The high will then cross Bass Strait early on Tuesday before accelerating away across the Tasman Sea on Wednesday. A cold front will cross Bight waters on Wednesday before entering western Victoria on Thursday morning and pushing across to the east by Thursday night. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers on and south of the divide, scattered at times over the Central district and West Gippsland. Mostly sunny in the north. A cool to mild day with light to moderate southerly winds.Fire Danger - Moderate to high.Tuesday 19 MarchIsolated coastal showers clearing early in the morning. Morning fog patches in the south. A fine afternoon apart from the risk of a shower in the far east. A mild to warm and mostly sunny day with a light wind and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Wednesday 20 MarchA fine and warm to hot day with northerly winds freshening from the west. High cloud increasing then a little patchy rain reaching the west at night.Thursday 21 MarchAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms developing in the morning then clearing from the northwest late in the day and evening.
