Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 17/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system centred south of the Bight is moving eastwards and will be positioned over the Tasman Sea on Tuesday and Wednesday, reaching New Zealand on Thursday. A low pressure trough will develop near the western border on Wednesday morning, then extend over western districts during the day, reaching the eastern border early on Thursday.
Forecast for the rest of SundayPossible isolated light showers about the Lower South East coast, the south coast of Kangaroo Island and near the western border, otherwise fine. Cool in the south grading to warm in the north. Moderate southeasterly winds, fresh about the coasts and ranges.Monday 18 MarchFine apart from possible isolated light showers about the Lower South East coast, the south coast of Kangaroo Island and near the western border, all clearing by midday. Mild near southern coasts, warm elsewhere, grading to hot in the far northwest. Light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds and afternoon sea breezes.Tuesday 19 MarchFine and mostly sunny. Warm in the south grading to hot in the north and west. Light to moderate northeast to northerly winds, freshening in the west.Wednesday 20 MarchIsolated showers developing over western districts, extending over southern coasts and the South East district in the afternoon or evening. Possible thunderstorms over Eyre Peninsula and the West Coast district. Hot, grading to very hot in the far northwest, with freshening northerly winds, ahead of a milder southwest to southerly wind change in the west, extending eastwards to reach a line near Kingscote to Coober Pedy late evening.Thursday 21 MarchIsolated showers and possible morning thunder, all south of about Broken Hill to Coober Pedy. Mild to warm, grading to hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh southwest to southeasterly winds extending throughout. Cumulative rainfall totals from Sunday afternoon until midnight Thursday are expected to be less than 1 mm over areas south of about Broken Hill to Coober Pedy.Friday until SundayIsolated showers over the Pastoral and Flinders districts, contracting northeastwards on Saturday and clearing later. Isolated showers near southern coasts, extending over the southern agricultural area on Saturday, then contracting to southern coasts again on Sunday. Mostly southwest to northwest winds on Friday, freshening in the south, becoming fresh southwest to southeasterly on Saturday then easing on Sunday. Hot in the north on Friday, otherwise cool to mild days in the south grading to warm in the north.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Monday.Product IDS10033
