MELBOURNE - Mar 15/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation Ex tropical Cyclone Sandra over the central Tasman Sea is slowly moving south southeast and weakening. During Saturday a cold front will move through western and southeastern New South Wales before weakening into a trough over the northeast on Sunday. On Monday a high pressure system will move southeast of the Bight extending a ridge to the north coast behind the front. This high will move east of Tasmania during Tuesday and then it will move slowly towards New Zealand maintaining the ridge to the north coast. The cold front is expected to move through the state on Thursday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated afternoon and evening showers in the south with the chance of thunderstorms in the far southeast . Mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to northeast winds in the northeast, south to southwesterly change extending through the remainder. Dangerous surf conditions north from Sydney easing.Fire Danger - very high : RiverinaSunday 17 MarchIsolated showers along the coast and far southern ranges. Mostly sunny in the west. Gusty south to southwest winds extending throughout.Monday 18 MarchIsolated showers in the northeast and along the south coast. Mostly sunny remainder. Southeast winds.Tuesday 19 MarchIsolated showers about the northeast third with a possible thunderstorm in the central north. Partly cloudy remainder.
