Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Mar 14/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A ridge of high pressure extends from the Bight across southern Victoria and will weaken on Friday as a broad trough of low pressure develops over Victoria. A cold front will move across Victoria on Saturday as the next high pressure system moves into the Bight and a low pressure system develops to the east of Tasmania. The high will remain south of the Bight on Sunday and Monday, while the low pressure system will move away towards New Zealand.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayFine. Light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.Friday 15 MarchGenerally dry with just the chance of some morning drizzle near the coast. Warm and sunny in the north. Milder in in the south with morning cloud breaking to a mostly sunny afternoon. Light winds and afternoon seabreezes developing near the coast.Fire Danger -  Generally high.Saturday 16 MarchScattered showers developing in the south becoming more extensive near the coast and extending eastwards during the afternoon. Isolated showers extending north of the divide, although remaining dry over the northwest. Generally mild at first with winds tending cooler, fresh and gusty southwesterly during the day, locally strong near the coast and about the ranges.Sunday 17 MarchIsolated showers in the south, more extensive over east Gippsland at first. Cool and partly cloudy in the south, milder and mostly sunny in the north. Light to moderate southerly winds.Monday 18 MarchIsolated showers in the south clearing during the afternoon. Sunny in the north. A mild day with light to moderate southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Friday.Product IDV10310
