MELBOURNE - Mar 13/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A ridge of high pressure will extend from the Bight on Thursday before weakening on Friday as a broad trough of low pressure develops over Victoria. Another cold front will move across Victoria on Saturday as a high pressure system moves into the Bight and a low pressure system develops to the east of Tasmania. The high will remain south of the Bight on Sunday as the low pressure system moves towards New Zealand. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers possible over the east and about the southwest coast, otherwise Fine. Moderate south to southwesterly winds fresh at first near the coast.Thursday 14 MarchIsolated showers about the eastern ranges. Isolated showers near the coast clearing by the afternoon. Fine elsewhere. A partly cloudy day in the south, sunny in the north. Mild to warm with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.Fire Danger - Generally high.Friday 15 MarchGenerally dry, just the chance of isolated showers about the southwest coast during the morning. A warm day with generally light winds and afternoon seabreezes developing near the coast.Saturday 16 MarchScattered showers developing in the south. Isolated showers extending north of the divide, although remaining dry over the northwest. Generally mild with winds tending cooler, fresh and gusty southwesterly during the day, locally strong near the coast and about the ranges.Sunday 17 MarchIsolated showers in the south, more extensive over east Gippsland at first. Cool and partly cloudy in the south, milder and mostly sunny in the north.
