MELBOURNE - Mar 12/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front over western Victoria will track eastwards across the State during Wednesday and will be weakening by the time it reaches the far east in the late afternoon. A ridge of high pressure will extend from the Bight towards Bass Strait on Thursday before weakening on Friday as a broad trough of low pressure develops over Victoria. Another cold front will move across Victoria on Saturday as a low pressure system develops to the east of Tasmania. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayVery warm northerly winds, fresh to strong over southern and elevated areas ahead of a cooler gusty southwesterly change spreading from the west early this morning across central areas by the middle of the day and into the east this afternoon. Isolated showers possible over the east in the afternoon ahead of the change and near the southwest and central coasts following the change.Fire Danger - Very High.Thursday 14 MarchIsolated showers over the south and far east but remaining dry over the northern plains. Showers mostly clearing in the afternoon. Mild to warm with light to moderate southwest to southerly winds.Friday 15 MarchMostly dry, just the chance of some isolated morning drizzle over the far southeast and isolated showers developing near the far southwestern coast later. A warm day with generally light winds and afternoon seabreezes developing near the coast.Saturday 16 MarchScattered showers developing over the south, more isolated in the north.
