MELBOURNE - Mar 9/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A large high pressure system is located over the central Tasman Sea. A trough of low pressure entering western Victoria will slow and weaken tonight. Another high pressure system will move over waters south of the Bight tonight, then will pass to the south of Tasmania late Sunday before merging with the high over the Tasman Sea on Monday. The next cold front and associated trough will cross waters south of the Bight late Tuesday, reaching southwest Victoria late Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers and thunderstorms over the southwest tonight but dry elsewhere. Light to moderate northerly winds over most areas, but a milder southwest to southerly change over the southwest, extending to the central coast this evening before weakening.Sunday 10 MarchEarly morning fog patches in the southwest. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms mostly about the eastern ranges during the afternoon and evening. A hot and partly cloudy day inland with light winds, but milder seabreezes developing along the coastal fringe.Fire Danger - Generally highMonday 11 MarchDry apart from isolated showers about the easern ranges during the afternoon. A very warm to hot and mostly sunny day with light winds inland and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Tuesday 12 MarchDry and mainly sunny throughout. A hot day with light to moderate north to northeast winds and local afternoon coastal seabreezes, mainly over Gippsland.Wednesday 13 MarchDry and hot during the day with moderate northwesterly winds, locally fresh in the south. A milder southwesterly change reaching the southwest late afternoon then extending eastwards overnight.
