MELBOURNE - Mar 7/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A large high pressure system over the central Tasman Sea is slow moving. A weak low pressure trough extends from central Australia towards the western border of Victoria and is likely to persist until Saturday. The Tasman Sea high will be reinforced from the west on Sunday resulting in the freshening of a hot northerly airflow over Victoria early next week. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayMostly dry, although isolated showers in the west and over central northern areas this evening. Chance of a thunderstorm in the southwest. A warm evening with generally light wind and coastal seabreezes.Friday 8 MarchMorning fog patches in the south. Cloudy periods with isolated showers in the southwest. A warm to hot and partly cloudy day with a light to moderate east to northeasterly wind and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Fire Danger - High Fire danger.Saturday 9 MarchMorning fog patches in Gippsland. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms in the southwest. Isolated showers near the ranges during the afternoon and evening.
