USDA National Grain Review

ST. JOSEPH - Mar 1/13 - SNS -- The USDA issued its latest weekly national grain market review, covering the period through Mar 1.

WEEKLY NATIONAL GRAIN MARKET REVIEW
   Compared to last week, grain bids were mixed with corn and grain sorghum
higher and wheat and soybeans trading lower.  Corn had solid gains as grain
traders remain focused on tight corn supplies; exports were a little better than
expected and good buying interest.  Soybeans had good buying interest on
Thursday of this week and positive export sales with fresh sales on Thursday
after trending lower most of the week.  Wheat remains pressured by a higher U.S.
dollar index and slow buying interest.  Corn had export sales of 302,600 mt
(11.9 mb) for current marketing year and 210,000 mt (8.3 mb) for next year
totaling 512,600 mt (20.2 mb).  Soybeans had export sales of 689,000 mt (25.3
mb) for current marketing year and 482,000 mt for 2013-2014 for total export
sales of 1,171,000 mt (43 mb).  Wheat had export sales totaling 524,900 mt (19.3
mb) with 372,600 mt (13.7 mb) for current marketing year.  Wheat closed mostly
6-12 cents lower for the week.  Corn traded 16-28 cents higher with grain
sorghum trending 23-55 cents higher.  Soybeans closed 21-36 cents lower.
   WHEAT:  Kansas City US No 1 Hard Red Winter, ordinary protein rail bid was 6
1/2 12 1/2 cents lower from 8.12 3/4-8.67 3/4 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2
Soft Red winter rail bid no quote per bushel.  St. Louis truck US No 2 Soft Red
Winter terminal bid was at 7.39 per bushel.  Minneapolis and Duluth US No 1 Dark
Northern Spring, 14.0 to 14.5 percent protein rail, was from 9.21 1/2-9.26 1/2
per bushel.  Portland US Soft White wheat rail was 9 3/4 cents lower from 9.11
3/4-9.16 3/4 per bushel.
   CORN:  Kansas City US No 2 rail White Corn was 3 cents higher from 7.39-7.51
per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 24 to 29 cents higher at
7.55 per bushel.  Omaha US No 2 truck Yellow Corn was 24 to 28 cents higher from
7.39-7.43 per bushel.  Chicago US No 2 Yellow Corn was 17 3/4 to 18 3/4 cents
higher from 7.20 1/2-7.34 1/2 per bushel.  Toledo US No 2 rail Yellow corn was
16 3/4 to 18 3/4 cents higher from 7.23 1/2-7.28 1/2 per bushel.  Minneapolis US
No 2 Yellow corn rail was 20 3/4 cents higher at 7.00 1/2 per bushel.
   OATS AND BARLEY:  US 2 or Better oats, rail bid to arrive at Minneapolis 20
day was 4 1/4 to 7 1/4 cents lower from 4.07 1/4-4.17 1/4 per bushel.  US No 3
or better rail malting Barley, 70 percent or better plump out of Minneapolis was
5 cents higher at 7.10 per bushel.  Portland US 2 Barley, unit trains and
Barges-export was not available per cwt.
   SORGHUM:  US No 2 yellow truck, Kansas City was 23 cents higher at 12.57 per
cwt.  Texas High Plains US No 2 yellow sorghum (prices paid or bid to the
farmer, fob elevator) was 1 to 5 cents lower from 11.99-12.34 per cwt.
   OILSEEDS:  Minneapolis Yellow truck soybeans no bid per bushel.  Illinois
Processors US No 1 Yellow truck soybeans were 21 1/2 to 25 1/2 cents lower from
14.92 1/4-15.00 1/4 per bushel.  Kansas City US No 2 Yellow truck soybeans were
36 cents lower at 14.87 per bushel.  Central Illinois 48 percent Soybean meal,
processor rail bid was 1.50 to 3.50 lower from 444.80-450.80 per ton.  Central
Illinois Crude Soybean oil processor bid was 249 points lower from 46.42-47.57
cents per pound.
