Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 27/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system west of New Zealand extends a ridge to the far north coast directing warm and moist air across much of the state. A low pressure trough associated with a cold front passing over the southern Tasman Sea is currently over the western parts of New South Wales and is expected to extend over the central parts of the state later on Thursday reaching the northeast by Friday. Behind the front another high is expected to move towards Tasmania extending a ridge to the northeast of the state in the wake of the front.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayIsolated showers clearing in the northeast by the evening. Rain areas and isolated thunderstorms developing elsewhere, with local heavy falls over parts of the southern and central inland. Rain easing to isolated showers in the southwest during the day. North to northeast winds ahead of a southerly change in the west and south, reaching central parts later.Friday 1 MarchRain areas and isolated thunderstorms in the northeast, locally heavy about the North West Slopes and Plains. Showers on the south and central coasts and adjacent ranges. Partly cloudy in the remainder. South to southeast winds extending throughout, strong along the coast.Saturday 2 MarchIsolated showers in the northeast tending scattered near the coast. Scattered showers along the remainder of the coast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast winds, strong along the coast.Sunday 3 MarchIsolated showers in the northeast, tending scattered near the coast. Isolated showers along the remainder of the coast. East to southeast winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Thursday.Product IDN10031
