Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 27/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system southwest of the Bight will gradually move eastwards to be south of Adelaide Thursday evening and over Tasmania at the weekend. Tropical Cyclone Rusty lies inland east of Port Hedland (WA) and is expected to weaken as it moves southwards over Western Australia over the next couple of days. A trough will move over the west and south of the State early next week.
Forecast for the rest of ThursdayPatchy rain north of about Yunta to Roxby Downs increasing to areas of rain in the far northwest. Rain easing to isolated afternoon showers over the Northeast Pastoral with rain easing over the Northwest Pastoral and contracting westwards towards the border during the day. Possible isolated coastal showers clearing during the morning. Cool to mild in the south and west grading to warm to hot in the far northeast. Mainly moderate east to southeasterly winds.Friday 1 MarchPatchy rain over areas west of about Marla to Ceduna, possibly increasing to areas of rain about the western border. Possible afternoon thunderstorms in the far northwest. Cool to mild in the south and west grading to warm in the northeast. mainly southeast to easterly winds, turning northeasterly in the far northwest of the State.Saturday 2 MarchPatchy rain west of about Marla to Ceduna clearing to the south during the day. Possible afternoon showers and thunderstorms in the far northwest. Generally warm to hot with mainly moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, turning northerly in the west.Sunday 3 MarchFine apart from isolated showers and thunderstorms developing about the western border. Generally hot throughout with moderate northeast to northerly winds shifting westerly following a change in the far west later in the day. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday afternoon until midnight Sunday are expected to range from less than 2 mm over the southern coasts and 2 to 5 mm over the pastoral areas. Isolated thunderstorms and rain in the northwest may produce fall of 10 to 20 mm.Monday until WednesdayHot at first with northerly winds ahead of a milder southerly wind change bringing possible showers to western and southern parts of the State early next week. Possible isolated showers and thunderstorms in the far northeast corner early in the period.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Thursday.Product IDS10033
