MELBOURNE - Feb 27/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front over central Victoria will clear away to the east Thursday morning. A high pressure system will develop south of the Bight during Thursday before drifting eastwards on Friday to be just south of Tasmania on Saturday. The high should reach the Tasman Sea on Sunday. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms contracting eastwards tonight. Moderate to heavy falls possible in central and eastern areas. Isolated showers to follow the rain. Becoming less humid with a moderate to fresh southerly winds.Thursday 28 FebruaryRain and isolated thunderstorms at first in the east with moderate to locally heavy falls possible. Isolated showers elsewhere contracting to southern and mountain districts during the morning and to Gippsland and the coast during the afternoon. Cool with moderate to fresh southerly winds.Fire Danger - Moderate to High, reaching very High in the northwest.Friday 1 MarchIsolated showers in Gippsland and near the coast contracting to East Gippsland during the afternoon. Fine and mainly sunny over the remainder of the State.
