Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 27/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system south of Perth will gradually move eastwards this week to be south of Adelaide Thursday night and over Tasmania at the weekend. Severe Tropical Cyclone Rusty lies just north of Port Hedland (WA) and is expected to weaken as it moves southwards over Western Australia this week. A trough will move over the west and south of the State early next week.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayAreas of rain northeast of about Wudinna to Adelaide to Naracoorte at 4 pm, contracting northwards to be north of a line Tarcoola to Port Augusta to Renmark by tonight. Possible isolated showers about southern and western coasts following the rain. Possible isolated showers and thunderstorms over the Northeast Pastoral district during the afternoon. Mild to warm in the south and west grading to hot in the northeast. Mainly moderate east to southeasterly winds.Thursday 28 FebruaryPatchy rain north of about Tarcoola to Port Augusta to Renmark increasing to areas of rain in the far northwest. Rain easing to isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms in the east during the morning, while over the Northwest Pastoral district, the rain will ease and contract westwards towards the border during the day. Possible isolated coastal showers clearing during the morning. Cool to mild in the south and west grading to warm to hot in the far northeast. Mainly moderate east to southeasterly winds.Friday 1 MarchPatchy rain over areas west of about Marla to Ceduna, possibly increasing to areas of rain about the western border. Possible afternoon thunderstorms in the far northwest. Cool to mild in the south and west grading to warm in the northeast. mainly southeast to easterly winds, turning northeasterly in the far northwest of the State.Saturday 2 MarchPatchy rain west of about Marla to Ceduna clearing to the south during the day. Possible afternoon showers and thunderstorms in the far northwest. Generally warm to hot with mainly moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, turning northerly in the west.Sunday 3 MarchFine apart from isolated showers and thunderstorms developing about the western border. Generally hot throughout with moderate northeast to northerly winds shifting westerly following a change in the far west later in the day. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday afternoon until midnight Sunday are expected to range from less than 2 mm over southern agricultural area, to 2 to 10 mm over northern agricultural and pastoral areas. Isolated thunderstorms in the northeast and northwest may produce 10 to 20 mm, while rain along the western part of the State associated with TC Rusty may produce falls of 10 to 40 mm.Monday until WednesdayHot at first with northerly winds ahead of a milder southerly wind change bringing possible showers to western and southern parts of the State early next week. Possible isolated showers and thunderstorms in the far northeast corner early in the period.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Thursday.Product IDS10033
