MELBOURNE - Feb 26/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is located over New Zealand, while a low pressure trough is weakening over inland Victoria. A cold front will enter western Victoria on Wednesday morning and then move across the State during the day, clearing the far northeast at night. On Thursday a high pressure system will develop south of the Bight and drift eastwards on Friday to be over Tasmania on Saturday. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms contracting east through central districts and the northeast. Moderate to heavy falls possible. Isolated showers and the risk of a thunderstorm elsewhere. Light winds northerly inland and seabreezes near the coast.Wednesday 27 FebruaryAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms across central and eastern areas, contracting to the far northeast during the day. Moderate to heavy falls possible. Isolated showers in the west, contracting to the coast during the day. Mild to warm and humid with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting cooler gusty southwesterly from the west.Fire Danger - Moderate to highThursday 28 FebruaryRain and isolated thunderstorms easing to a few showers across the northeast during the morning. Scattered showers in East Gippsland. Isolated showers in remaining southern districts contracting to the coast during the afternoon.
