Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 26/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system southwest of Perth will gradually move eastwards this week to be south of Adelaide Thursday night and over Tasmania at the weekend. Severe Tropical Cyclone Rusty lies just north of Port Hedland (WA) and is expected to weaken as it moves southwards over Western Australia this week.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayPatchy rain west of Ceduna, extending over Eyre Peninsula and the south of the Northwest Pastoral during the early evening, and then over central districts late this evening. Patchy rain increasing to areas of rain in the far northwest. Possible isolated afternoon and evening showers and thunderstorms about the eastern border of the Northeast Pastoral district and over Eyre Peninsula. Generally warm with light to moderate southeasterly winds and fresh early evening coastal sea breezes.Wednesday 27 FebruaryAreas of rain over the Northwest Pastoral district with patchy rain extending over agricultural areas, before all contracting north of a line Tarcoola to Port Augusta to Renmark by the end of the day. Isolated showers about southern and western coasts following the rain. Possible isolated thunderstorms developing over the Northeast Pastoral district during the afternoon. Mild to warm in the south and west grading to hot in the northeast. Mainly moderate east to southeasterly winds.Thursday 28 FebruaryPatchy rain north of about Tarcoola to Port Augusta to Renmark increasing to widespread rain in the far northwest. Rain clearing from the east during the morning, while over the Northwest Pastoral district, the rain will ease and contract westwards towards the border during the day. Possible isolated coastal showers clearing during the day. Cool to mild in the south and west grading to warm to hot in the far northeast. Mainly moderate east to southeasterly winds.Friday 1 MarchFine apart from patchy rain over areas west of about Marla to Nullarbor, possibly increasing to areas of rain about the western border of the northwest Pastoral district. Cool to mild in the south and west grading to warm in the northeast. mainly southeast to easterly winds, turning northeasterly in the far northwest of the State.Saturday 2 March
Fine apart from patchy rain west of about Ernabella to Nullarbor. Generally warm to hot with mainly moderate southeast to northeasterly winds.
Cumulative rainfall totals from Tuesday afternoon until midnight Saturday are expected to range from less than 5 mm in the southeast and northeast corners of the State, to 5 to 10 mm over northern agricultural and southern pastoral areas, increasing further to 10 to 20 mm over the Northwest Pastoral districts and 20 to 50 mm over the far northwest.
Sunday until TuesdayPatchy rain clearing from the west before a change moves across the western and southern parts of the State later in the period, bringing isolated showers. Possible showers and thunderstorms developing in the northeast early next week.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Wednesday.Product IDS10033
