MELBOURNE - Feb 25/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is located over New Zealand, while a low pressure trough over central Victoria will drift westwards and weaken on Tuesday. A cold front will enter western Victoria Wednesday morning and move across the State during the day. On Thursday a high pressure system will develop south of the Bight and drift eastwards towards Tasmania on Friday. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly over the central ranges. A warm and humid evening with light winds inland and moderate southerly seabreezes near to the coast.Tuesday 26 FebruaryScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon and tending to rain areas about the ranges by the evening. Moderate falls in the northeast and about the ranges. Warm and humid with light winds tending northerly inland and afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Fire Danger - Moderate to high.Wednesday 27 FebruaryAreas of rain and isolated thunderstorms across central and eastern areas, contracting to the far northeast during the day. Moderate to heavy falls possible in the northeast. Isolated showers in the west, contracting to the coast during the day. Mild to warm and humid with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting cooler southwesterly from the west.Thursday 28 FebruaryIsolated thunderstorms over the northeast ranges during the morning. Scattered showers in East Gippsland. Isolated showers in remaining southern and mountain districts contracting to the coast during the day. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southerly winds.Friday 1 MarchIsolated showers in the south, mainly about the coast and Gippsland and more frequent over East Gippsland. Fine and mainly sunny over the remainder of the State.
