Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 25/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough lies over western New South Wales and another trough lies off the north coast while a strong high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge to the far north coast directing warm and moist air across much of the state. The coastal trough will weaken today and Tuesday as a cold front approaches from the west. The front will cross the west and southeast of the state on Wednesday and the northeast during Friday. Behind the front another high is expected to move towards Tasmania extending a ridge to the northeast of the state on Friday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayPartly cloudy in the northwest. Rain areas in the northeast, possibly locally heavy about the far north coast and adjacent ranges. Isolated showers and thunderstorms elsewhere, tending scattered about the central and southern tableland. East to northeasterly winds, freshening along the coast during the afternoon.Tuesday 26 FebruaryPartly cloudy on the southern half of the coast. Scattered showers in the northeast. Isolated showers and isolated afternoon thunderstorms over the remainder. East to northeast winds.Wednesday 27 FebruaryPartly cloudy in the northeast with isolated showers near the far north coast. Showers or rain and isolated thunderstorms elsewhere. North to northeast winds ahead of a southwest change in the west.Thursday 28 FebruaryIsolated showers in the far northeast and partly cloudy in the far southwest. Showers or rain areas and isolated thunderstorms elsewhere. North to northeast winds before a southerly change in the west and southeast.Friday 1 MarchRain areas and isolated thunderstorms in the northeast. Showers and the central coast an ranges and on the south coast. Partly cloudy in the remainder.
