MELBOURNE - Feb 24/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A large and slow-moving high pressure system is over New Zealand's south island. A low pressure trough will remain over Victoria today and Tuesday. A cold front will cross waters south of the Bight on Tuesday, then move across Victoria during Wednesday. On Thursday a high pressure system will develop south of the Bight. Forecast for the rest of MondayIsolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly over the central ranges during the afternoon. Warm to hot with light winds tending southerly in the afternoon. Becoming milder in the south with seabreezes extending inland during the afternoon.Fire Danger - Moderate to High reaching Very High in the east.Tuesday 26 FebruaryScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon. Generally warm with light winds and afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Wednesday 27 FebruaryScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, increasing to rain areas about the central and eastern ranges, then easing in the west later. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting cooler southwesterly from the west.Thursday 28 FebruaryIsolated thunderstorms over the northeast ranges during the morning. Scattered showers in East Gippsland. Isolated showers in remaining southern and mountain districts contracting eastwards during the day.
