Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 24/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A large high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea is drifting slowly eastwards. A low pressure trough in the far southwest of the State will stall over Victoria on Monday and Tuesday. A cold front will cross waters south of the Bight on Tuesday, then move across Victoria during Wednesday. On Thursday a high pressure system will develop south of the Bight.
Forecast for the rest of SundayIsolated showers, scattered in East Gippsland. Isolated thunderstorms in the east. Isolated thundery showers possible in the southwest. Generally light winds inland but moderate to fresh southerly winds near the coast.Monday 25 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly over the ranges. Generally warm with moderate southerly winds extending throughout during the afternoon.Fire Danger -  High.Tuesday 26 FebruaryScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, mainly in the afternoon. Generally warm with light winds and afternoon seabreezes near the coast.Wednesday 27 FebruaryScattered showers and isolated thunderstorms, increasing to rain areas about the central and eastern ranges, then easing in the west later. Mild to warm with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds shifting cooler southwesterly from the west.Thursday 28 FebruaryIsolated thunderstorms over the northeast ranges during the morning. Scattered showers in East Gippsland. Isolated showers in remaining southern and mountain districts contracting eastwards during the day. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Monday.Product IDV10310
