MELBOURNE - Feb 22/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A low pressure system over the far northeastern NSW is moving to the southwest as a high pressure system near Tasmania extends a ridge to the northern Tasman Sea. These two systems are bringing vigorous gusty winds, heavy rain and damaging surf to eastern parts of NSW. As the low moves further inland during Saturday rain and winds will gradually ease. The low is expected to weaken into a trough over the central parts of the state by Sunday. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayRain areas in the east with local heavy falls becoming showers across central inland parts. Dry in the far west. The chance of thunderstorms. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds, fresh and gusty along parts of the coast. Dangerous surf along central and southern parts of the coast.Fire Danger - Very High across parts of central and southern inland NSW.Sunday 24 FebruaryShowers and possible thunderstorms in the eastern half, tending isolated over the western slopes of the ranges. Partly cloudy elsewhere. The chance of thunderstorms on the coast and ranges in the north. Partly cloudy in the west. North to northeast winds tending light and variable over the western inland. Dangerous surf along southern half of the coast.Monday 25 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the eastern half. Scattered showers in the northeast. Partly cloudy elsewhere. East to northeasterly winds.Tuesday 26 FebruaryIsolated showers across the state, tending scattered about the northeast. Isolated thunderstorms over the southern inland.
