MELBOURNE - Feb 20/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge towards the New South Wales south coast and a deep low off the Queensland southeast coast extends a trough along the north coast. During Thursday the low will move south towards the state's north coast generating heavy rain there. Heavy rain should contract to the central and south coasts on Friday and Saturday as the low moves south along the coast. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayShowers along the coast and adjacent ranges, with rain areas in the far north. The chance of showers or thunderstorms in the northwestern and southeastern inland. Partly cloudy elsewhere. East to southeasterly winds, fresh and gusty on the northern coast. Dangerous surf conditions along the far north coast.Thursday 21 FebruaryShowers along the coast and adjacent ranges, with areas of rain a possible heavy falls on the north coast. South to southeast winds, fresh gusty on the northern coast. The chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms in the far western and in far southern inland. Partly cloudy elsewhere. Dangerous surf conditions along the far north coast.Friday 22 FebruaryRain on the coast and adjacent ranges, possible heavy falls near the coast north of about Sydney. Showers along the western slopes and ranges. The chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms in the far west Partly cloudy elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds, strong to gale force along parts of the coast.
