Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 20/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near Tasmania will move slowly east to be centred over New Zealand on Saturday. A weak trough will move across South Australia during the weekend as another high develops south of the Bight late in the weekend.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms across the Pastoral and Flinders districts south of about Coober Pedy to Marree, and also over far northern parts of the agricultural area. Moderate southeasterly winds, fresh about the coasts. Mild about the coast grading to hot in the far north.Thursday 21 FebruaryIsolated showers and possible thunderstorms over the northern agricultural area, Flinders and Pastoral districts, clearing over western parts during the day. Isolated showers about the Lower South East coast. Warm to hot with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, fresh at times near the coast.Friday 22 FebruaryPossible isolated showers and thunderstorms on and east of the ranges and in the North East Pastoral. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds.Saturday 23 FebruaryHot to very hot and mostly sunny. Possible showers developing near western coasts later in the day, with the chance of isolated thundery showers in the far west. Moderate northerly winds shifting fresh southerly in the west in the afternoon or evening.Sunday 24 FebruaryPossible isolated showers extending over the agricultural area, North West Pastoral and West Coast district. Hot to very hot with moderate northerly winds, ahead of a milder southerly change in the west extending eastwards to reach the North East Pastoral in the evening. Cumulative rainfall totals from Wednesday afternoon until midnight Sunday are expected to be generally less than 2 mm, however isolated local falls of up to 10 mm are possible with thunderstorms.Monday until WednesdayPossible isolated showers, clearing during Monday, then fine until isolated showers develop in the far west and Lower South East on Wednesday. Generally warm to hot with moderate southeast to easterly winds, fresh at times.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Thursday.Product IDS10033
