MELBOURNE - Feb 18/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A strong high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge towards the New South Wales coast, and is directing humid easterly winds across much of the state. A weak trough will move into southern and western parts of the state later today before dissipating over the north. Meanwhile, a low is developing within a another trough, off the Queensland coast, and is forecast to move slowly southwards during the following few days. Forecast for the rest of TuesdayIsolated showers along the north and central coasts and adjacent ranges, tending to widespread rain areas in the far northeast with locally heavy falls. The chance of afternoon showers or thunderstorms near the Victorian border. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds, fresh to strong and gusty on the far north coast, turning southerly in southern districts later in the day.Wednesday 20 FebruaryShowers along the coast and adjacent ranges, more widespread in the north with the chance of locally heavy falls. Fine elsewhere, apart from isolated afternoon showers across the southern and western inland. Possible thunderstorms in the south. East to southeasterly winds, fresh and gusty on the northern coast.Thursday 21 FebruaryShowers along the coast and adjacent ranges, more widespread in the north with the chance of locally heavy falls.
