Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 18/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure over western and southern South Australia will continue across central and eastern districts this evening, then remaining districts during Tuesday. A new high pressure system will develop south of the Bight on Tuesday before moving slowly east to centred southeast of Tasmania by Thursday and Friday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayHot to very hot over northeastern parts of the State with moderate to fresh northerly winds and isolated afternoon and early evening thunderstorms in the far northeast corner. A milder, fresh southerly change over western and southern parts of the State will continue moving eastwards to reach remaining central and eastern districts in the evening. Possible isolated showers and thunder developing with the change.Tuesday 19 FebruaryCloudy with possible isolated showers and thunderstorms contracting to the Flinders and Pastoral districts southwest of about Oodnadatta and Marree by mid-afternoon. Cool to mild near southern coasts, hot inland and very hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh northerly winds over the northeast with south to southeasterly winds elsewhere.Wednesday 20 FebruaryAreas of cloud and possible isolated showers and thunderstorms over the Flinders and Pastoral districts east of about Tarcoola to Coober Pedy and south of about Marree, mainly during the afternoon. Winds are expected to be light to moderate southeast to northeasterly, fresh about the coasts at times. Temperatures will range from mild about the coasts to hot inland and in the north.Thursday 21 FebruaryPossible isolated showers over the Flinders and Pastoral districts contracting eastwards during the day with isolated afternoon thunderstorms developing east of about Tarcoola. Possible isolated morning showers about southern coasts. Warm to hot near the coasts grading to very hot in the far north with light to moderate northerly winds in the east and southerly winds elsewhere.Friday 22 FebruaryPossible isolated showers and thunderstorms on and east of the ranges northeast of about Gawler to Mount Gambier. Warm to hot with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds. Cumulative rainfall totals from Monday afternoon until midnight Friday are expected to be generally less than 2 mm, however isolated local falls of 5 to 20 mm are possible with thunderstorms on and east of the ranges.Saturday until MondayFine on Saturday apart from possible isolated showers developing in the far west later in the day, before moving southeastwards and weakening on Sunday. Possible isolated showers about southern coasts Monday morning, otherwise fine. Remaining hot in the northeast, but becoming mild to warm about southern and western parts later in the period as northeasterly winds turn southerly.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Tuesday.Product IDS10033
