Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 17/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system is moving slowly eastwards across the south Tasman Sea. A low pressure trough will reach the southwest of Victoria late today and then move eastwards across the State overnight and during Tuesday, reaching the far east by Tuesday evening. A new high pressure system south of the Bight will then move eastwards on Wednesday and will be centred to be southeast of Tasmania by Thursday, while a broad surface trough develops over New South Wales.
Forecast for the rest of MondayDry apart from early morning fog patches over Gippsland and isolated afternoon or evening showers and thunderstorms about the eastern ranges. A sunny morning, but becoming partly cloudy this afternoon. A hot day with moderate to locally fresh northerly winds although afternoon seabreezes developing along the Gippsland coast. A cooler southerly change entering the southwest late in the day.Fire Danger -  High to Very HighTuesday 19 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms but more scattered in the southwest and about the eastern ranges, contracting to northern and eastern areas during the day. Moderate, warm to hot north to northwesterly winds shifting cooler southwesterly to southerly in the west and south during the morning and extending throughout by the evening.Wednesday 20 FebruaryIsolated showers in the east and about exposed parts of the coast, contracting to Gippsland by the evening. Warm and mainly sunny in the north, milder and partly cloudy in the south. Moderate to fresh south to southeast winds.Thursday 21 FebruaryPartly cloudy with isolated showers and possible thunderstorms. Warm with moderate northeast to east winds, becoming fresh and gusty about the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm EDT Monday.Product IDV10310
