Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 17/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A trough of low pressure will extend across western districts during the day, reaching central and eastern districts by Monday evening then remaining districts during Tuesday. A new high pressure system will develop over the Bight on Tuesday then move slowly east, to centred southeast of Tasmania by Thursday and Friday.
Forecast for the rest of MondayHot to very hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds, ahead of a milder, fresh southerly change extending across western parts of the State during the day then reaching central and eastern districts in the evening. Possible isolated showers and thunderstorms developing in the far west with the change. Isolated afternoon thunderstorms and in the far northeast. Possible isolated showers developing over Kangaroo Island, southern Fleurieu Peninsula and the South East coast during the evening.Tuesday 19 FebruaryCloudy with isolated showers about southern and western coasts, mainly during the morning. Possible isolated showers and thunderstorms developing during the afternoon over the northern agricultural area and Pastoral districts south of about Leigh Creek. Cool to mild near southern coasts, hot inland and very hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh northerly winds over the northeast with south to southeasterly winds elsewhere.Wednesday 20 FebruaryAreas of cloud and possible isolated showers and thunderstorms south of about Coober Pedy and north of Adelaide to Ceduna mainly during the afternoon. Winds are expected to be light to moderate southeast to northeasterly, fresh about the coasts at times. Temperatures will range from mild about the coasts to hot inland and in the north.Thursday 21 FebruaryPossible isolated showers over inland parts contracting east with possible isolated afternoon thunderstorms east of about Woomera. Warm to hot near the coasts grading to very hot in the far north with light to moderate northerly winds in the east and southerly winds elsewhere. Cumulative rainfall totals from Monday until midnight Thursday expected to generally less than 2 mm, however isolated local falls of 5 to 20 mm are possible with thunderstorms in the far northeast.Friday until SundayPossible isolated showers east of the ranges clearing on Friday. Possible isolated late showers west of Nullarbor on Saturday extending to about Port Lincoln on Sunday. Warm to hot in the south grading to hot to very hot in the far north with light to moderate southeast to northeasterly winds, fresh at times in the west.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 pm CDT Monday.Product IDS10033
