MELBOURNE - Feb 16/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow moving high pressure system is centred to the southeast of Tasmania and will drift slowly eastwards today. The next low pressure trough will reach the southwest of Victoria late Monday and then move eastwards across the State during Tuesday, reaching the far east at night. A new high pressure system south of the Bight will then move eastwards to be south of Tasmania on Wednesday. Forecast for the rest of SundayEarly morning fog patches over Gippsland, otherwise a dry and mainly sunny day. Warm to hot with light to moderate north to northeasterly winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes.Fire Danger - Generally High to Very High.Monday 18 FebruaryFine and mainly sunny apart from the chance of an afternoon or evening shower or thunderstorm about the far east ranges. Warm to hot day with moderate northerly winds and afternoon coastal seabreezes. A late southerly change entering the southwest late in the day.Tuesday 19 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms with and ahead of a change. Showers persisting in the south after the change but clearing from the southwest in the evening. Moderate, warm to hot north to northwesterly winds shifting cooler southwesterly to southerly in the west and south during the morning and extending throughout by the evening.Wednesday 20 FebruaryIsolated showers mainly about the coast and over Gippsland, contracting to Gippsland by the evening. Warm to hot and mainly sunny in the north, milder and partly cloudy in the south.
