Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 16/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high over the Tasman Sea is slow moving. A trough of low pressure will move across western districts during Monday and over remaining districts during Tuesday. A new high pressure ridge will develop to the south of the State from the middle of next week.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers east of about Woomera contracting east during the evening. Possible thunderstorms east of about Adelaide to Leigh Creek, more likely near the eastern border. Light to moderate northeast to southeast winds and afternoon coastal sea breezes.Sunday 17 FebruaryFine apart from isolated showers and thunderstorms in the northeast of the Northeast Pastoral with possible showers and thunderstorms developing over the Flinders district in the afternoon. Showers and thunderstorms becoming scattered over the far northeast late afternoon. Hot grading to very hot in the west and north with mainly moderate northerly winds.Monday 18 FebruaryHot to very hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds, ahead of a milder, fresh southerly change in the far west early Monday extending eastwards to reach Eyre Peninsula in the afternoon and evening. Areas of cloud and possible isolated showers developing west of Wudinna to Robe following the change.Tuesday 19 FebruaryCloudy with isolated showers about southern and western coasts, mainly during the morning, with possible showers over the remainder of the southern agricultural area. Possible showers and thunderstorms developing over the northern agricultural area and Pastoral districts southwest of about Coober Pedy to Broken Hill. Cool to mild near southern coasts, hot inland and very hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh northerly winds over the northeast with south to southeasterly winds elsewhere.Wednesday 20 FebruaryAreas of cloud and possible isolated showers are expected to continue south of about Coober Pedy to Leigh Creek, however showers are expected to contract north of Adelaide. Winds are expected to be light to moderate southeast to northeasterly, fresh about the coasts at times. Temperatures will range from mild about the coasts to hot inland and in the north. Cumulative rainfall totals from Saturday afternoon until midnight Wednesday will be highly variable due to the localised nature of the thunderstorm activity and are expected to generally be in the 1 to 5 mm range, however isolated falls of 5 to 15 mm are possible with thunderstorms.Thursday until SaturdayPossible isolated showers over inland parts contracting east then clearing later on Friday. Possible isolated showers developing southwest of Wudinna to Naracoorte during saturday associated with another trough. Warm to hot near the coasts grading to very hot in the far north with light to moderate northerly winds in the east and southerly winds elsewhere, extending throughout later in the period and freshening.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Sunday.Product IDS10033
