Australia -- South Australia Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 15/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of South Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near Tasmania will move slowly east to be located over the Tasman Sea during the weekend. A trough of low pressure will move across western districts during Monday and over remaining districts during Tuesday. A new high pressure ridge will develop to the south of the State from the middle of next week.
Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers and thunderstorms east of about Streaky Bay to Oodnadatta, mainly during the afternoon. Showers becoming scattered over the eastern parts of the agricultural area during the late afternoon. Generally hot and humid. Moderate northeast to southeasterly winds.Saturday 16 FebruaryThe chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms east of about Streaky Bay to Oodnadatta. Generally hot and humid. Moderate northeast to southeasterly winds.Sunday 17 FebruaryFine apart from the chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms developing during the afternoon north of a line from Renmark to Clare to Coober Pedy. Showers and thunderstorms becoming scattered over the far northeast late afternoon. Hot grading to very hot in the west and north with mainly moderate northerly winds.Monday 18 FebruaryHot to very hot with moderate to fresh northerly winds, ahead of a milder, fresh southerly change in the far west early Monday extending eastwards to reach Eyre Peninsula in the afternoon and evening. Areas of cloud and possible isolated showers developing west of Ceduna to Port Lincoln following the change.Tuesday 19 FebruaryCloudy with possible isolated showers southwest of about Coober Pedy to Broken Hill. Cool to mild near southern coasts, hot inland and very hot in the far north. Moderate to fresh northerly winds over eastern districts ahead of south to southeasterly winds extending throughout by evening. Cumulative rainfall totals from Friday until midnight Tuesday will be highly variable due to the localised nature of the thunderstorm activity and are expected to generally be in the 1 to 5 mm range, however isolated falls of 10 to 30 mm are possible with thunderstorms over and to the east of the Mount Lofty Ranges and 5 to 10 mm with thunderstorms elsewhere.Wednesday until FridayAreas of cloud and possible isolated showers are expected to continue south of about Coober Pedy to Leigh Creek, however showers are expected to contract north of Adelaide. Winds are expected to be light to moderate southeast to northeasterly, fresh about the coasts at times. Temperatures will range from mild about the coasts to hot inland and in the north.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:30 am CDT Saturday.Product IDS10033
