For the latest warning information please check the Bureau's web site www.bom.gov.au/qld Weather Situation A high near Tasmania should maintain a ridge of high pressure along Queensland's east coast over the next few days. An upper level trough lies across Queensland's southern districts, and a weak surface trough lies through Queensland's central interior. Forecast for the rest of Friday Isolated showers and thunderstorms over the northern tropics and central interior, more widespread about Queensland's western districts. Scattered showers tending to rain periods at times with some moderate local falls and the chance of some isolated thunderstorms about the east coast and nearby inland areas between about Cairns and St. Lawrence. Scattered showers and the chance of some isolated storms over the remainder of the state's far east. Mostly fine over the southeast interior with just isolated showers and the chance of some isolated thunderstorms. Moderate to fresh SE winds about the east coast and light to moderate SE to NE winds over the interior. Forecast for Saturday The high should move into the Tasman Sea just off Tasmania while an upper level trough lies over eastern Queensland and another, weaker upper trough enters the Channel Country area from the west. Mainly isolated showers and thunderstorms over the central and southern interior, more widespread about the western districts. A moist onshore should allow scattered showers and some isolated thunderstorms continue about the state's far east, and some locally moderate falls and rain periods are possible between over the coast and nearby inland areas between about Cairns and St. Lawrence. Mostly fine over the southeast interior though there is just the chance of some isolated showers and storms in the region. Forecast for Sunday The high should drift a little further east of Tasmania while a broad upper trough is expected to lie across southern and central Queensland. Isolated showers and storms over the Peninsula district, the northern and southern interior and the Channel Country, and more widespread showers and storms over the state's northwest. Fine and mostly sunny over the Central Highlands and southern interior. An onshore wind flow should maintain scattered showers and some isolated thunderstorms about the state's eastern districts. Forecast for Monday An onshore flow should maintain scattered showers about most of the eastern districts, and showers should also increase during the day about the southeast coast. Fine and mostly sunny over the southern interior. An upper level trough over state's west should allow mainly isolated showers and storms to form over the western districts, more widespread about the northwest. Outlook for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday The outlook for early next week will depend largely on the movement and strength of the upper trough as it passes eastwards across the state. At this stage the most likely scenario is that the upper trough will maintain a broad area of showers and some isolated thunderstorms over the state's southeast, but that conditions will become fine and mostly sunny over the Channel Country early in the outlook period. Isolated showers and storms continuing over the remainder of the interior early in the outlook period, possibly contracting into the western districts during the week. It is likely that an easing trend in the weather along the east coast will develop from Wednesday onwards. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST Friday.
