MELBOURNE - Feb 12/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow moving high pressure system is centred south of the Bight and extends a ridge eastwards across Tasmania to the Tasman Sea. The high will drift eastwards over the next few days passing to the south of Tasmania on Thursday night. The high will be centred over the Tasman Sea during the weekend. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayFine apart from isolated showers and thunderstorms developing over the eastern ranges and over the northwest during the afternoon and evening. Warm to hot inland with light to moderate east to southeasterly winds, but milder near the coast with fresh afternoon seabreezes.Fire Danger - Very High in the southwest, High elsewhere.Thursday 14 FebruaryMorning fog patches in the south. Isolated showers and thunderstorms during the afternoon, mainly on and north of the ranges. A warm to hot day with light to moderate northeasterly winds, but fresh east to southeasterly winds developing about the coast.Friday 15 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly near the ranges. Generally warm to hot with light to moderate east to northeasterly winds and fresh afternoon coastal seabreezes.Saturday 16 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms, mainly about the ranges.
