Forecast for the rest of Sunday Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms north of about Innisfail to Mount Isa. Isolated showers increasing to scattered over remaining inland parts north Clermont during the day with isolated thunderstorms developing. Isolated showers along the remaining east coast north of Fraser Island, scattered at times along the central and Capricorn coasts. Isolated showers and possible afternoon thunderstorms through the central and southern interior east of about Winton to Goodooga and extending east to the Granite Belt. Isolated showers and possible thunderstorms near the western border. Mostly fine elsewhere over western Queensland with just some light showers north of about Windorah. Patchy cloud and light drizzle clearing the southeast during the morning to a fine and mostly sunny day. A warm to hot day through western districts with Very High fire dangers. Light to moderate SE to NE winds, fresh at time about the east tropical coast. Forecast for Monday A trough will move west over northern Queensland, increasing moisture through northwestern parts of the state with scattered showers and thunderstorms expected and some at least moderate falls, particularly with storms. Isolated showers will continue along the east coast north of about Bowen in a moist onshore wind flow, scattered with the chance of storms south of Cairns. Isolated showers and storms will occur over remaining northern parts of the state in a moist and unstable E'ly wind flow. An upper level trough will move north through New South Wales, increasing instability through the central west and southern interior of Queensland with isolated showers and gusty thunderstorms expected. High cloud will increase though far southwestern Queensland late in the day as an upper trough over the Great Australian Bight deepens, increasing the shower and storm activity near the southwest border. Conditions will remain fine and mostly sunny through much of the Central Highlands, Capricornia, Wide Bay and Southeast Coast under the influence of the ridge. Maximum temperatures will remain above the February average through the southwest. Forecast for Tuesday The upper trough over the Great Australian Bight will continue to intensify and extend high cloud further east through western Queensland. Patchy light rain, isolated showers and thunderstorms are expected, increasing to scattered showers and thunderstorms west of about Normanton to Birdsville with some moderate falls, possibly locally heavy with thunderstorms. Scattered showers and isolated thunderstorms will continue through the Peninsula district. Isolated showers are expected along the remaining east coast, increasing to scattered about the central and southern tropical coasts and ranges due to the presence of another Coral Sea trough with possible isolated thunderstorms, particularly inland. The upper level trough over New South Wales will move north into southeastern Queensland, increasing instability. This should result in isolated showers increasing to scattered over southeast inland parts during the afternoon with isolated thunderstorms developing. This activity is expected to remain mostly inland though may affect the Gold Coast and western or southern suburbs of Brisbane. Very isolated shower and thunderstorm activity is expected through the Maranoa and Warrego district and southern central highlands. Forecast for Wednesday The upper trough over the Great Australian Bight will move east over South Australia while a surface trough will remain slow moving near the southwest border. Cloudy conditions will therefore persist through western Queensland, with patchy light rain and isolated thunderstorms south and west of about Longreach, more widespread through the northwest of the state with some moderate falls continuing. Conditions should stabilise through the southeast as the upper trough here moves away into the Coral Sea. Scattered showers will extend north along the southern coast however as a high moving east over southeastern Australia extends a firm ridge and a fresh S to SE wind change north along the southern Queensland coast. Isolated showers will occur over remaining eastern districts, scattered near the tropical coast south of Cairns and through the far northern Peninsula with isolated thunderstorms. Outlook for Thursday, Friday and Saturday The high in the Great Australian Bight should continue to move slowly eastwards into the Tasman Sea during the outlook period. The upper trough is expected to move towards southwestern Queensland while the weak surface trough should remain slow moving near the southwest border. This should result in a band of showers, patchy rain and thunderstorms affecting areas west of about Normanton to Charleville during the outlook period. A moist and marginally unstable airmass will persist over eastern Queensland, with isolated to scattered showers expected and the chance of isolated thunderstorms, particularly about the ranges. Isolated showers and thunderstorms will continue through the Peninsula district. The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:10 pm EST Sunday.
