Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 10/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge to the northern New South Wales coast. A low pressure trough extends from the Hunter coast through to the state's northwest, and is moving slowly towards the northeast as the ridge weakens. The trough is expected to to stall over the north during Monday as the next high moves south of the Bight and extends a ridge to the Tasman Sea. Conditions over the following days will be dominated by this high as it moves slowly east, strengthening a new ridge along the New South Wales coast while a trough persists over the inland.
Forecast for the rest of SundayShowers and thunderstorms in the east, more widespread about the ranges and slopes. The chance of shower and thunderstorms along the coast, and in the far west. Northwest to northeasterly winds in the north and southerly winds in the south. Winds fresh and gusty near the coast.Monday 11 FebruaryFine and partly cloudy over the western inland. Isolated showers elsewhere, tending scattered with afternoon thunderstorms about the central tablelands and adjacent areas, and parts of the northeast. Southeast to northeasterly winds in the north, and south to southeasterly winds elsewhere.Tuesday 12 FebruaryIsolated showers in the east, mainly about the northern coast and ranges, and about the northern inland. The chance of afternoon thunderstorms about the central tablelands, and across the north. Fine and partly cloudy over the southern and central inland. Mostly southeast to northeasterly winds.Wednesday 13 FebruaryIsolated showers about the northern and central coasts and adjacent ranges. The chance of afternoon showers and afternoon thunderstorms across the western inland. Possible showers about the southern Alps. Fine elsewhere. Southeast to northeasterly winds.Thursday 14 FebruaryThe chance of showers about the central coast, becoming more likely on the northern coast. Isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms in the far west, and about the western slopes of the southern ranges.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Monday.Product IDN10031
