Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 9/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge to the northern New South Wales coast. A low pressure trough and associated cold front will move across southern and central districts tonight and Sunday, as the ridge over the northeast weakens. This trough is expected to to stall over the north by Monday as the next high moves south of the Bight and extends a ridge to the Tasman Sea.
Forecast for the rest of SaturdayThe chance of showers and thunderstorms across southern and central districts. Isolated showers on the far north coast and adjacent ranges. Fine elsewhere. Northeast to northwesterly winds, fresh and gusty near the coast, tending light and variable inland.Sunday 10 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the east, becoming more widespread on the northern half of the coast and adjacent ranges during the afternoon. Fine and partly cloudy across most western districts. Northwest to northeasterly winds ahead of a cooler southerly change moving through the south and west of the state. Winds fresh and gusty near the coast.Fire Danger -  Very High: Central West Slopes and Plains, Southwest Slopes, Riverina, Central Tablelands.Monday 11 FebruaryFine and partly cloudy in the west. Isolated showers in the east, with afternoon thunderstorms about the central tableland and parts of the northeast. Southeast to northeasterly winds in the north, and south to southeasterly winds elsewhere.Tuesday 12 FebruaryIsolated showers in the northeast and about the southern tablelands. Possible showers over the northwest slopes. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Mostly southeast to northeasterly winds.Wednesday 13 FebruaryIsolated showers about the northern and central coasts, and adjacent ranges. The chance of showers and afternoon thunderstorms across the western inland. Fine elsewhere.
