Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 8/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system remains over the eastern Tasman Sea. A low pressure trough over central Victoria will move slowly eastwards on Saturday as a cold front crosses Tasmania late in the day. The next high pressure system will be centred south of the Bight on Sunday and will extend a ridge eastwards across Tasmania to the Tasman Sea on Monday and Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayFine apart from isolated thundery showers in the far east. Chiefly light winds inland and evening seabreezes near the coast.Saturday 9 FebruaryIsolated thundery showers near the northern border during the morning contracting to eastern Victoria during the afternoon. Warm to hot in the north and east with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds. Milder southwesterly winds developing near the coast and extending inland late afternoon and evening.Fire Danger -  High to Very High, reaching Severe over the Northeast and North Central districts.Sunday 10 FebruaryIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts contracting to Gippsland during the afternoon. Dry and mainly sunny over the northern plains. Generally cool in the south, but warmer north of the divide with moderate to locally fresh southerly winds.Monday 11 FebruaryFine apart from isolated showers over the southeast and along the coast during the morning. Mild in the south, but warmer over the north. Light to moderate south to southeasterly winds tending fresh easterly near the coast.Tuesday 12 FebruaryFine apart from isolated showers over the eastern ranges during the afternoon. Mild in the south but warm over the north. Light to moderate southeasterly wind tending fresh east to southeasterly near the coast.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Saturday.Product IDV10310
