MELBOURNE - Feb 7/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A slow-moving high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge to the northern New South Wales coast. A low pressure trough will move across the state during the weekend as the high approaches New Zealand and the ridge over the northeast weakens. This trough is expected to to stall over the eastern inland on Monday as another high moves towards Tasmania extending a ridge along the coast. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayScattered showers on the north coast and adjacent ranges. The chance of showers or thunderstorms over southern ranges. Mostly clear elsewhere. Northeast to northwesterly winds.Friday 8 FebruaryIsolated showers on the far north coast and adjacent ranges. The chance of afternoon showers and thunderstorms on the far south coast and adjacent ranges. Mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot inland. Northeast to northwesterly winds tending light and variable inland.Fire Danger - Very High in the southeast.Saturday 9 FebruaryPartly cloudy in the west and northeast apart from isolated showers on the far north coast. Isolated showers elsewhere, with the chance of afternoon thunderstorms. Hot to very hot inland. Northeast to northwesterly winds tending light and variable inland.Sunday 10 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the east, more widespread on the northern ranges during the afternoon. Northwest to northeast winds ahead of a mild southerly change moving through the south and west of the state.Monday 11 FebruaryPartly cloudy in the west, in the far northeast and on the southern half of the coast. Isolated showers and thunderstorms elsewhere.
