MELBOURNE - Feb 7/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is over the Tasman Sea. A low pressure trough over central Victoria will linger over the State today and Friday. A cold front will move across Tasmania on Saturday, as the low pressure trough moves further east. The next high pressure system will be centred south of the Bight on Sunday and will extend a ridge eastwards across Tasmania by Sunday night. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayMainly dry. Drizzle possible near the southwest coast during the morning. Isolated showers and thunderstorms possible about the far southeast during the afternoon and evening. Warm to hot inland and in the east with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds. Milder afternoon seabreezes developing near the coast.Fire Danger - Very High to Severe reaching Extreme in the North Central DistrictFriday 8 FebruaryMainly dry. Isolated showers possible near the southwest coast during the morning. Isolated showers and thunderstorms about the far southeast during the afternoon and evening. Warm to hot inland with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds. Milder afternoon seabreezes developing near the coast.Saturday 9 FebruaryMostly dry. Isolated showers developing near the southwest coast during the morning. Isolated showers and thunderstorms possible in the east during the afternoon and evening. Warm to hot in the north and east with moderate to fresh west to northwesterly winds. Milder southwesterly winds developing near the coast and extending inland late afternoon and evening.Sunday 10 FebruaryIsolated showers over southern and mountain districts and the chance of thunderstorms in the east. Dry over the northern plains.
