Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 6/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A slow-moving high pressure system over the southern Tasman Sea extends a ridge to the northern New South Wales coast. A low pressure trough is expected to move across the state during the weekend as the high approaches New Zealand and the ridge over the northeast weakens.
Forecast for the rest of WednesdayIsolated showers on the northern coast and adjacent ranges, tending scattered closer to the Queensland border. Isolated showers and thunderstorms about the Northwest Slopes and Plains, and over the Southern and Central Tablelands during the afternoon and possibly early evening. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Northeast to southeasterly winds near the coast, tending light and variable inland.Thursday 7 FebruaryScattered showers on the north coast and adjacent ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Northeast to northwesterly winds.Fire Danger -  Very High to Severe in the Riverina. Very high on the Southwest slopes.Friday 8 FebruaryIsolated showers on the far north coast and adjacent ranges. The chance of isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms on the far south coast and adjacent ranges. Fine and mostly sunny elsewhere. Hot to very hot. Northeast to northwesterly winds tending light and variable inland.Saturday 9 FebruaryFine and partly cloudy in the northwest. Isolated showers elsewhere, with the chance of afternoon thunderstorms along the southern half of the coast and adjacent ranges. Hot to very hot. Northeast to northwesterly winds tending light and variable inland.Sunday 10 FebruaryIsolated showers and thunderstorms in the east, more widespread on the northern ranges during the afternoon. Northwest to northeast winds ahead of a cooler southerly change moving through the south and west of the state.The next routine forecast will be issued at 4:30 am EDT Thursday.Product IDN10031
