MELBOURNE - Feb 5/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system is over the Tasman Sea while a low pressure trough crosses the Bight. The trough will enter southwest Victoria this afternoon, reaching central districts during the evening before lingering over the State on Thursday and Friday. A cold front will move across Tasmania on Saturday, as the low pressure trough moves further east. Forecast for the rest of WednesdayDry apart from the chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms in the far east during the afternoon. Warm to hot and mostly sunny with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds. A cooler southwesterly change entering the far southwest during the afternoon and reaching central and northwest districts during the evening before weakening.Fire Danger - Very high to Severe.Thursday 7 FebruaryMainly dry. Isolated showers possible near the southwest coast during the morning. Isolated showers and thunderstorms possible about the eastern ranges during the afternoon and evening. Warm to hot inland and in the east with moderate to fresh northwesterly winds. Milder afternoon seabreezes developing near the coast.Friday 8 FebruaryMainly dry. Isolated showers possible near the southwest coast during the morning. Isolated showers and thunderstorms about the eastern ranges during the afternoon and evening.
