MELBOURNE - Feb 3/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A high pressure system to the southwest of Victoria will cross Tasmania today, reaching the Tasman Sea on Tuesday as a low pressure trough crosses waters south of the Bight. The trough will enter southwest Victoria Wednesday afternoon, reaching central districts during the evening before weakening out overnight. The trough is likely to reform over western Victoria on Thursday and will move over central districts Thursday afternoon and evening. Forecast for the rest of MondayFine after patchy fog and drizzle in the south clears during the morning. A mainly sunny afternoon throughout. Light southwest to southeasterly winds, freshening about the coast during the afternoon with seabreezes.Fire Danger - Generally moderate to highTuesday 5 FebruaryFine apart from isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms about the far eastern ranges. A warm and mostly sunny day inland with light winds. Milder along the coastal fringe with moderate to fresh afternoon seabreezes.Wednesday 6 FebruaryWarm to hot and sunny with moderate to locally fresh north to northwesterly winds. A cooler gusty southwest to southerly change entering the far southwest during the afternoon and reaching central and northwest districts during the evening but remaining dry.Thursday 7 FebruaryWarm to hot inland with moderate to fresh north to northwesterly winds. Milder near the coast with fresh afternoon seabreezes.
