MELBOURNE - Feb 2/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A weak front moving through Bass Strait overnight will clear to the east tomorrow. A high pressure system developing south of the Bight will be centred just to the southwest of Victoria Sunday night. The high will cross Tasmania on Monday, reaching the Tasman Sea on Tuesday as a low pressure trough crosses waters south of the Bight. The trough will enter southwest Victoria Wednesday afternoon, reaching central districts during the evening. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayIsolated showers or drizzle patches in the south, mainly near the coast. Dry and mostly clear north of the divide. Moderate to fresh southerly winds gradually easing.Sunday 3 FebruaryIsolated showers and drizzle patches in the south clearing during the afternoon. Dry over the northern plains. A cool to mild day in the south with areas of cloud, but warmer over the north and mostly sunny. Light to moderate south to southwesterly winds, locally fresh near the coast.Fire Danger - Generally highMonday 4 FebruaryPatchy morning showers or drizzle near the southwest coast and far East Gippsland. Morning fog patches in the southand east. An otherwise fine and mostly sunny day with light southwest to southeasterly winds, freshening about the coast during the afternoon with seabreezes.Tuesday 5 FebruaryFine apart from isolated afternoon showers and thunderstorms about the far eastern ranges. A warm and mostly sunny day inland with light winds. Milder along the coastal fringe with moderate to fresh afternoon seabreezes.Wednesday 6 FebruaryWarm to hot and sunny with moderate to locally fresh north to northwesterly winds. A cooler gusty southwest to southerly change entering the far southwest during the afternoon and reaching central and northwest districts during the evening.
