MELBOURNE - Feb 1/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A trough lies through the far northeast of New South Wales. A low pressure system is expected to develop within this trough off the Hunter coast Saturday morning. A high pressure ridge is extending over southern New South Wales. During the weekend the low pressure centre is expected to move further east into the Tasman Sea as the high pressure ridge strengthens over New South Wales. A weak inland trough is expected to develop over inland New South Wales towards the end of the weekend, but the atmosphere will be too stable to support any rainfall inland. Forecast for the rest of SaturdayScattered showers and thunderstorms over the central and northern ranges and coast, contracting to the east during the day. The chance of morning showers in the southeast. Winds northwesterly at first in the northeast of the state ahead of the trough. Southwest to southeast winds remainder extending throughout during the day, fresh to strong and gusty near the coast. Dangerous surf conditions along the coast.Sunday 3 FebruaryThe chance of showers near the coast. Fine and mostly sunny inland. Southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh and gusty near the northern coast.Monday 4 FebruaryThe chance of showers about the coast and eastern ranges, mainly in the north. Fine elsewhere. East to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 5 FebruaryThe chance of showers about the coast and eastern ranges, mainly in the north. Fine elsewhere.
