Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 1/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A low pressure trough to the east of Bass Strait will continue to move east over the Tasman Sea tonight. A high pressure ridge will extend from a high south of WA across southern Victoria on Saturday while a weak trough moves across Tasmania. The high will then move eastwards on Sunday as a cold front crosses Tasmania. On Monday the high will cross Tasmania then move eastwards across the Tasman Sea on Tuesday.
Forecast for the rest of FridayIsolated showers over the south and far east. Isolated thunderstorms possible over the Northeast and East Gippsland districts this evening. Moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds.Saturday 2 FebruaryIsolated morning showers near the coast and tending scattered over East Gippsland. Isolated showers redeveloping over the southwest in the afternoon, reaching the Central District later in the day. Mostly sunny over the north. A cool to mild day with moderate to locally fresh south to southwesterly winds.Fire Danger -  Moderate to HighSunday 3 FebruaryIsolated showers in the south, mainly near the coast. Showers clearing in the afternoon. A cool to mild day with cloud clearing later in the south but remaining mostly sunny in the north. Light to moderate south to southwesterly winds, locally fresh near the coast.Monday 4 FebruaryPatchy morning showers or drizzle near the southwest coast and far East Gippsland. Morning fog patches in the southwest. An otherwise fine and mostly sunny day with light southwest to southeasterly winds becoming moderate to fresh near the coast with afternoon seabreezes.Tuesday 5 FebruaryIsolated morning showers over the far East Gippsland coast then isolated afternoon showers and possible thunderstorms developing over the northeastern ranges. Otherwise a warm and mostly sunny day with light winds, milder near the coast with moderate to fresh afternoon seabreezes.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Saturday.Product IDV10310
