Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Feb 1/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge towards the northern New South Wales coast. A low pressure trough has passed over southern and western parts of the state, and is generating unsettled condition in many areas as it approaches the northeast. The trough will continue to the northeast corner early Saturday as the ridge weakens, before moving away across the Tasman Sea. Behind this, another high is forecast to extend a ridge northwards along the New South Wales coast, bringing a few coastal showers while maintaining fine conditions west of the Divide heading into the new week.
Forecast for the rest of FridayShowers and thunderstorms in the eastern half, with heavy rain, large hail and damaging wind possible. Showers increasing to rain periods about the Hunter and adjacent districts in the evening, with locally heavy falls possible. Fine in the west. Northerly winds in the northeast, with fresh and gusty southerly winds extending across the remainder. Dangerous surf conditions along the coast.Saturday 2 FebruaryIsolated showers in the southeast, clearing. Scattered showers and possible early storms in the northeast, easing during the morning and contracting to the coast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southerly winds extending throughout, fresh to strong and gusty along the coast. Dangerous surf conditions along the coast.Sunday 3 FebruaryThe chance of showers near the coast. Fine and mostly sunny inland. Southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh and gusty near the northern coast.Monday 4 FebruaryThe chance of showers about the coast and eastern ranges, mainly in the north. Fine elsewhere. East to southeasterly winds.Tuesday 5 FebruaryThe chance of showers about the coast and eastern ranges, mainly in the north. Fine elsewhere.
