Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 31/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure system near New Zealand extends a ridge towards the northern New South Wales coast, while a low pressure trough and associated cold front move across the state's central parts. This trough will move to the northeast during Friday, becoming slow-moving and generating unsettled conditions in many districts. During Saturday the trough is expected to move offshore, with a low developing over the Tasman Sea. This low is expected to move rapidly to the east on Sunday as a high south of Adelaide extends a ridge along the New South Wales coast.
Forecast for the rest of FridayShowers and thunderstorms developing in the eastern half. Showers and storms becoming more widespread about the Hunter and adjacent districts during the afternoon, then increasing to areas of rain in the evening, with locally heavy falls possible. Fine and partly cloudy in the west. Northerly winds in the northeast, with fresh and gusty southerly winds extending across the remainder. Dangerous surf conditions along the coast.Fire Danger -  Very High: Upper Western, RiverinaSaturday 2 FebruaryIsolated showers in the east, tending scattered in the north at first. The chance of thunderstorms in the northeast. Fine and partly cloudy elsewhere. Southerly winds extending throughout, fresh to strong and gusty along the coast.Sunday 3 FebruaryThe chance of showers near the coast. Fine and mostly sunny inland. Southwest to southeasterly winds, fresh and gusty near the northern coast.Monday 4 FebruaryThe chance of showers about the coast and eastern ranges, mainly in the north. Fine elsewhere.
