MELBOURNE - Jan 31/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.
Weather Situation A cold front over Victoria will move away to the northeast overnight, introducing a colder southwest to southerly airstream that will persist on Friday. A weak cold front will move across Tasmania on Saturday further delaying the next high sitting south of Western Australia from approaching. The high will then move eastwards across Bight waters on Sunday and Tasmania during Monday. Forecast for the rest of ThursdayRain areas in the southwest eastwards across southern and mountain areas, then tending to isolated showers from the west. The chance of thunderstorms in the south and about the central and eastern ranges. Isolated showers developing north of the Divide. Cooler, gusty southwesterly winds over the south and west, extending throughout this evening.Friday 1 FebruaryScattered showers in southern and mountain areas, becoming isolated from the west. A cool day with a fresh south to southwesterly wind.Fire Danger - High to very high.Saturday 2 FebruaryScattered showers in East Gippsland in the morning. Isolated showers elsewhere near the coast, mainly during the morning. Fine in the north. Cool to mild with moderate to fresh southerly winds.Sunday 3 FebruaryIsolated showers in the south, mainly in the morning. Cool and partly cloudy in the south, warm and mainly sunny in the north. Light to moderate southwesterly winds.Monday 4 FebruaryPatchy morning drizzle near the southwest coast and in East Gippsland. Morning fog patches in the southwest.
