Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Jan 29/13 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Victoria was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Situation
A high pressure ridge lies over Victoria. A cold front will approach western Victoria later on Wednesday before moving across the State on Thursday introducing colder southwesterly winds. A low pressure system is likely to develop to the east of the State during Friday and Saturday while another high pressure ridge develops from the west.
Forecast for the rest of TuesdayFine apart from isolated showers in the far east of East Gippsland and isolated thunderstorms over the northeast ranges. Moderate to fresh south to southwesterly winds.Wednesday 30 JanuaryFine apart from isolated morning showers in East Gippsland and isolated showers developing in the far southwest. Warm inland with light to moderate westerly winds but milder near the coast with afternoon seabreezes.Fire Danger -  Generally HighThursday 31 JanuaryScattered showers extending eastwards across the State, although only isolated showers north of the Divide. Warm, moderate to fresh northwesterly winds ahead of a cooler southwesterly change extending from the west.Friday 1 FebruaryScattered showers, mainly in southern and mountain areas. A cool to cold day with a fresh to strong and gusty south to southwesterly wind.Saturday 2 FebruaryScattered showers in East Gippsland, isolated elsewhere in southern and mountain areas. Fine over the northern plains. Cool with moderate to fresh southerly winds.The next routine forecast will be issued at 5:00 am EDT Wednesday.Product IDV10310
