Weather Situation
Ex-Tropical Cyclone Oswald is located near Tamworth, New South Wales, and is
moving rapidly further south. A trough extends from the eastern Gulf Country to
the western Darling Downs.
Forecast for the rest of Tuesday
Mostly cloudy with some early morning drizzle over the far southeast,
clearing to a fine and mostly sunny day. Scattered showers and thunderstorms
over the northern tropics. Isolated showers about the central coast and adjacent
inland. Fine and mostly clear over the remainder. Moderate W to NW winds in the
southeast, and also about the northern tropics. Moderate to fresh S to SW winds
over the west. Powerful surf about the Southeast Coast and Fraser coast. Severe
fire dangers over western districts and parts of the Northern Goldfields and
Upper Goldfields and Maranoa and Warrego districts. Very High fire danger over
the Gulf Country.
Forecast for Wednesday
A surface trough will extend from the eastern Gulf Country to the southern
interior. A moist onshore flow feeding into areas east of the surface trough
should lead to isolated showers and thunderstorms over the eastern districts.
Showers and thunderstorms should also continue over the far north. Fine over the
remainder of the state with elevated fire dangers likely to persist in the west
and central interior due to a dry, fresh southerly flow.
Forecast for Thursday
Moist air should remain over the eastern parts of the state. Scattered
showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected about the eastern districts as
an upper trough moves through southern Queensland. Fine over the far west of the
state and the southern interior of the state in a dry south to southwest flow.
Elevated fire dangers are likely to persist in the west of the state.
Forecast for Friday
Moist air should remain over the eastern parts of the state. Scattered
showers and isolated thunderstorms are expected about the eastern districts as a
stronger upper trough moves towards eastern parts from western Queensland. Fine
over the west of the state and southern interior of the state in a dry south to
southwest flow. Elevated fire dangers are likely to persist in the west of the
state.
Outlook for Saturday, Sunday and Monday

Saturday, with fine conditions in the west. Dry air will then push across from

isolated thunderstorms in the north. Remaining fine inland.
